【記者蔡元貴吉隆坡報道】被陌生人譏笑是「豬」，被時裝店售貨員趕走， 127公斤（約 279磅）的 19歲香港少女 Martha Lai在人生體重高峯時急流勇退，放棄工作走到馬來西亞參加亞洲減肥比賽。每天朝九晚五不停燒脂，結果五個多月燒掉了 40公斤（約 88磅）肥膏，打入最後四強。雖然最終未能奪得冠軍的 10萬美元獎金，但這位從來不敢向異性表達愛意的肥妹說：「𠵱家嘅我係最開心。」
美國減肥真人騷電視節目《減磅稱王》（ The Biggest Loser）亞洲版首屆比賽昨日完結，由一名印尼男售貨員稱王。香港出生的中國巴西混血兒 Martha也躋身決賽，結果名列第四。去年 9月仍是 127公斤巨人的 Martha，經過五個月地獄式訓練，體重狂減三成，現在只有 87公斤（約 191磅）。

Martha是最年輕的參賽者，去年主辦單位在新加坡公開召募，她便飛去試鏡，成功入圍，隨即辭去寵物店售貨員工作，全職減磅。經過三個月淘汰戰， Martha擊退所有女參賽者，成為唯一殺入四強的女士，與三位男士爭奪 10萬美元獎金。
誘使 Martha參賽的卻非巨額獎金，而是曾經讓她無地自容的巨額脂肪。因為肥，她時常被人取笑。有一回， Martha陪朋友回家，朋友是個美少女，坐升降機時，同𨋢一名醉漢調戲她的朋友， Martha出言保護，醉漢說：「隻豬都識講嘢嘅﹗」
肥不是罪，但過胖的確為 Martha帶來很多不幸。她只有中三程度，工作選擇不多，試過多次應徵做售貨員，但相信是外形關係，總是失敗的多，「啲舖頭多數都係請靚女，點會鍾意咁肥嘅人？」 Martha本身就不是個幸福的女孩，父母在她小時候離異，由巴西裔的母親養大，但二人感情欠佳，時常吵架。
破碎家庭是 Martha暴肥的元凶，她說父母都不肥，她中三輟學後卻開始變身，「嗰時開始夜蒲、消夜、落 club。」她又說吸收能力特別驚人，「我啲 friend一餐食三碗叉燒飯都唔肥，我一餐都係食兩、三碗飯左右。」
離開集中營 返港不戒口
決賽階段去年 12月底開始，四人面對最大挑戰──回家。以前的比賽都在大本營內舉行，參賽者生活在集中營，訓練、休息，再訓練，每天八小時。決賽卻在各自的家鄉比試，他們要抵擋真實生活中的各種誘惑，再沒有教練強迫他們運動，他們喜歡吃甚麼便吃甚麼。
Martha回到美食天堂的香港，引誘比任何地方都大。在兩個多月的決戰日子裏， Martha未能繼續戒食，第一周忍得住戒口，第二周就回到昔日暴飲暴食的生活，「見番啲朋友，就一齊飲茶，去麥記，又一齊夜蒲，打邊爐。」
這樣下去會前功盡廢，留港一個月後， Martha決定去泰國找她的舊隊友，在他們陪同下做 gym、跑步、游水，繼續減肥。 Martha每天步行 20公里、跑 10公里、游水 4公里。她又節飲節食，只吃白肉與蔬菜，全麥麪包當飯吃，「臨尾嗰兩星期真係頂唔順，身體好虛弱，成個人冇力。」
狂操猛練的代價，是決賽包尾，四強中排第四。但 Martha一點遺憾也沒有，「我冇諗過贏，入到四強已經好好，對手都同我好 friend，我唔介意佢哋贏。」

重拾信心「可以混入人群」燒掉 40公斤肥肉，感覺是怎樣的呢？「以前我出街行會好突出，好多人望，𠵱家可以混到入去人群。」 20歲的 Martha這半年來的轉變，不僅是身形，還有信心，「我唔會再理人哋點睇我，總之我好 proud of自己。好多人手臂粗就唔敢着吊帶裙，我夠膽着， I don't care.」
香港是個歧視肥人的社會， Martha最清楚，「以前我一入時裝店，店員就話呢度啲衫冇我 size，叫我走，𠵱家入到去，店員會好有禮貌咁問我要乜嘢衫。」以前在街上碰見她會扮看不見的朋友，現在會向她打招呼。礙於身形，從未拍拖的 Martha過往絕對不敢向男孩示愛，昨日她說：「睇番自己以前幅相，𠵱家嘅我係最開心嘅，再遇到鍾意嘅男仔，我或者會敢表達。」

真人騷《 The Biggest Loser》已有九年歷史，在美國頗受歡迎，亞洲版《減磅稱王》則是去年才推出。主辦單位在新加坡招募參賽者，多達 2,000人報名。由於節目以英語進行，除了夠肥夠決心之外，英語能力才是最重要的入圍條件。
比賽歷時大約半年，初段分兩組比賽，每輪比賽後，落敗的一組要互相投票擯走一名成員。人是自私的，有時候，隊員會擯走減肥成績不俗的隊友。
整個比賽期間，參賽者免費食宿，但一點收入都沒有。
